March 23 - 6:00 pm
Spencer is now an outpatient. We have made our
way from the hospital to the Grizzly House. Below is a link to give
you an idea of what it is like. (http://www.stjude.org/patient-information/0,2584,472_2105_9469,00.html)
Looks as if we will be settling in to watch a bit of NCAA Basketball. Go
Memphis Tigers! Our pizza should be here soon. Cathy and I want to say thank
you to all of the nurses that worked with Spencer during the past week. You
are so special and have been such blessings to our son and us!!!!!
March 23 - 1:40 pm
The back pain is much better and Spencer is
taking an afternoon nap. He is receiving blood and one hour after that is
complete, the move to the Grizzly House will commence. Probably, it will
take place at 5:00 pm. the countdown is on! An update on the PS2 front, the
baseball match-up around noon was much more respectable. Dad only lost 7-3
(Cathy says I took advantage of Spence since he was a bit drowsy from the
medication). Spencer's appetite seems to be coming back. For lunch, he ate
three bowls of cereal (we won't tell the nutritionist:). Spencer is
anxiously waiting for the afternoon mail as that is when he is expecting a
package from Grandpa Larry.
March 23 - 11:00
The procedure is complete and we are now back in
the hospital room. Still have not moved to the Grizzly House but hopefully
later today. Once Dr. Rizzoot gets back from Chicago, he will sign the
papers so we can get into the Target House (apartment style living). We are
on the waiting list and should get in there some time middle to the end of
next week. Pray specifically for the back pain to subside. In his love
...
March 23 - 9:15
I know several of you have been wondering our
plan of action. Cathy will remain in Memphis and is will taking a leave of
absence from Cotter Travel. Please pray for me as I will be leaving Memphis
on Saturday and flying back home. It just hit me that Saturday is nearly
here when Spence asked me when I was going home. It will be tough but I will
make it. This will give me a chance to get back home and spend time with
Chayse, family and friends. With Spring Break nearly over, I will be
teaching next week and making visits to students that are student teaching.
On the Thursday, the 30th, following class, Chayse and I will be driving to
Memphis. We are planning on letting Chayse spend the week here in Memphis to
spend some quality time with Spencer and Cathy. I will drive back to
Maryville on the Sunday, the 2nd. Praise God, we are leaving for the
procedure early!
March 23 - 8:00 am
Another good night! When I got over to the
hospital room this morning, Spencer was on the phone talking to Grandpa
Larry. Spencer is anxiously waiting to pick up his mail at 10:00 am. Dr.
Rachael is in now. She is awesome! Spencer will be going through a routine
procedure to check the spinal fluid and administer some chemo directly into
the spinal fluid at 11:00 am. He will receive blood this morning since his
hemoglobin count is low, but this was to be expected. Following the
procedure, we are expected to get out. How great are his signs, how
mighty his wonders! His kingdom is an eternal kingdom; his dominion endures
from generation to generation. Daniel 4:3
