Wow, what a day! Spencer anxiously awaited his
surprise to arrive and it happened at 7:45. Marcus Grudzinski. was able to
ride down with Kirby Morrison as Kirby brought our van down to Memphis. We
are very grateful for Kirby offering to do it and Marcus coming down to
spend a little bit of time with Spencer. In addition, Spencer got to visit
with Jordan and Whitney Wallace and his brother earlier in the evening.
Spence is really looking forward to Chayse coming down at the end of next
week. Tomorrow is the last day of the first treatment session. We should
know more as to when Spencer will be moving to outpatient status.
March 21 - 4:15 pm
Wow, what a great afternoon! Six members and two
batgirls from the 'Ole Miss baseball team stopped by to visit Spencer. One
of them was from Joplin and has friends that play on the Northwest baseball
team. The challenge was on when they found out Spencer had his PlayStation
in the room. Spencer impressed them with his skill and took the three inning
game 4-1. CJ said Spencer HWA (high winning awareness) as he took an
extra an base here and hit the cutoff man there. It was great to see some
new faces and they made Spencer really happy. We now have a team to root for
in college baseball. WE followed up their visit with dad taking on Spencer
with Spencer winning 7-1 (not as embarrassing as two days ago). The day of
good surprises is not over for Spencer as we think he will enjoy what will
be happening later on this evening. Stay tuned!
March 21 - 9:50 am
We just received the daily blood report Results
look good. The WBC count continues to drop. Before treatments, the WBC count
was 48.6, today it was .8. No blood transfusion again today!. The journey is
far far from over but we are encouraged by the response to the treatments!
March 21 - 9:10 am
Since Spencer has gotten up, we are seeing
smiles and grins and we are off to a great day. He has had a bath and ate
Trix for breakfast. He and I are now getting our man time in as we watch
ESPN.
March 21 - 8:00 am
As I was preparing to pray out the
old day and in the new this is what I heard on the KSFH web stream.
"God's not through, he's just getting started... I can see the fingerprints
of God on you...You are covered with the fingerprints of God."
Here are my verses for Spencer for this Tuesday,
one week since we took him to Heartland to see Dr. King.
Ask and it will be given unto you, seek and you will find, knock and it will
opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds and to
him who knocks it will be opened. Matthew 7:7-8
Our journey mirrors this passage. Cathy asked
that we be referred to the specialist and we got in the same day. Dr. King
did the seeking for us and found St. Jude's, made the call and the door was
opened with an available bed.
It is a new day and Spencer is off of treatment
until 5:00 pm. Again, we are asking our prayer warriors to hold Spence up in
prayer at that time. Specifically praying that the leukemia cells continue
there positive response to the chemo, minimal effects to the chemo, no
infections or complications.
The Barr family wishes you a blessed day!
